The Firm
Kelly Scanlon Interior Design was established in 2004 by Kelly Scanlon Sullivan. Since then we have been working on some amazing projects, big and small, throughout the Bay Area. We are so grateful to be welcomed into the home of a client seeking our help. We collaborate closely with each, listen carefully, and together create a beautifully, inspired home that is comfortable, grounded, and made for living in. Whether it’s your 1st home, or your 4th, a Pied De Terre or a wine country retreat, we believe the process should be enjoyable, seamless, and yes, FUN!
At KSD each project is led by Kelly, supported by multitasking office talent and an arsenal of experienced and respected local tradespeople, artisans, and contractors.
Kelly, Principal Designer
After forging a successful career in the corporate world, and a year traveling the rest of the world, I decided it was time for my “this is it” career. Motivated by the idea of creating beauty, I went back to school to discipline my creative side. I wasn’t sure if I’d come out designing bridges, homes, cars or cell phones…I just knew it needed to be something that people would be compelled to love and use on a daily basis. In the end, it was the architecture of my travels that finally dictated my focus on Interiors.
While working for a small boutique design firm in San Francisco, I earned a BFA in Interior Architecture and Design at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I studied under thriving designers and architects and credit this valuable education with refining my vision and ability to see.
I am a wife, and mother of three insanely busy teenagers and a sweet Chocolate Labradoodle.
JENny, Junior Designer
A native Californian, Jenny was born and raised in Newport Beach, CA, and has called the Bay Area home for over 15 years.
After gaining her BA from San Diego State University, Jenny started her career in event production and spent many at Sunset Magazine in Marketing & Events. During her years at Sunset Magazine, she gained a passion for home & garden design. After taking off several years to focus on raising her children, she decided it was time to return to her passions and explore the world of interior design. She went back to school to study Design and Interior Architecture at UC Berkeley. As a Junior Designer, Jenny supports all projects from conception through installation.
When not working at KSID, Jenny is busy raising three teenagers. In her free time, she loves to ski, play tennis, read, travel, & spend time with family.
SYDNEY, Junior Designer
Sydney recently joined the KSID team as Junior Designer after interning for the past year. Sydney is tasked with all aspects of a project from skillfully creating beautiful architectural drawings to collaborating on each textile play and palette.
Sydney recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from San Francisco State University. Formerly a pre-med scholar, she was drawn (pun intended) to architecture and design; ultimately switching majors and even cities. She is now blessed to call San Francisco home and her personal style continues to evolve.
Sydney draws upon her European travels as a source of inspiration and is passionate, giddy even, about bringing nature elements and funky patterns into projects.
AMY, OPERATIONS MANAGER
Amy joined Kelly Scanlon Designs in January of 2021 as the Operations Manager. She handles the operations side of KSID projects ensuring they run smoothly and on task. A ‘Jane-of-All-Trades’, Amy is responsible for product invoicing, ordering, tracking and client facing reporting – along with pretty much anything the team might need!
Prior to working for Kelly, Amy had a long career in marketing communications and advertising working at various agencies as well as high tech firms. Amy has a BA from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in Liberal Studies, and an MA from Emerson College in Marketing Communications.
In her spare time, Amy is raising two teenage boys, is an active community volunteer, and loves to play tennis.
